Secondary Courses
Science: Through readings, experiments/labs, and hands-on projects, our Physical Science homeschool course students explore the three main branches of physical science—chemistry, physics, and earth science. Topics such as elements, acids and bases, chemical formulas, force and motion, work and energy, electricity and magnetism, geology, oceanography, meteorology, astronomy, and more are explored in these lessons.
Mathematics: Grades 6-12 will be working on sharpening skills within their math level. Each student’s learning plan will be developed based on their skills at the beginning of the year. PLC will be using Saxon Math Curriculum, but will not be limited to the text alone.
Bible: The main focus of this Bible curriculum is to help students learn to love God and deepen their relationship and fellowship with Him. Progressing through this study, we show how God and Christ have exactly the same attributes in their character and LOVE for us as people. People sometimes have subtle reservations and misunderstandings about God due to hearing Old Testament stories of his judgment. This homeschool Bible curriculum helps students strengthen and repair their spiritual foundations before they try to discover who they are in Christ.
Mock Trial: This course strengthens comprehension, logic/critical thinking, persuasive argumentation, writing, research, and public speaking skills. This mock trial curriculum teaches important information about the judicial branch of our government, as well as honing skills every person needs. Microsoft Word and Excel: Lessons to walk homeschool students through how to use Microsoft Word efficiently. Homeschool students of all ages can apply these computer skills, whether doing homework, creating a resume for work, typing a list of things to do, or writing the next bestselling novel. Computer spreadsheets are critical for any kind of data management. This eighteen-week Microsoft Excel online spreadsheet tutorial uses video lessons to walk homeschool students through how to use Microsoft Excel to format, customize, and calculate data. Homeschool students of all ages can apply these computer skills to any data application, from simple lists to accounting worksheets.
American Government: This American Government homeschool social studies course that traces the development of the nation’s federal government from its creation to the present day. Middle school and high school homeschool students explore the roles of state and local government as well as that of citizens. The course includes daily lessons and assignments, as well as quizzes and a semester research project.
Language Arts: Focusing on a variety of literary genres, Analyzing, Understanding, and Exploring Literature homeschool language arts lessons teach homeschool middle school and high school students to become more independent in their ability to analyze themes and structures, explain an author’s purpose, support their view with text-based details, write more confidently, compose an analytical essay, prepare and give a presentation, and more. Our Daily Grammar for middle school and high school language arts curriculum can be used daily for additional practice and review of grammar concepts. Topics covered include nouns, pronouns, verbs, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, adverbs, interjections, diagramming sentences, and more.
